CMU Against ICE
Palantir makes millions of dollars by working for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, helping carry out Trump’s immigration crackdown by fueling deportations with data. While Palantir still benefits from ICE's surveillance and deportation of immigrants, it is not right to support such scholarships that hurt marginalized communities.
Over 300 of us have made it very clear that we will not work for Palantir, a company that aids and abets ICE’s crimes against humanity. Thousands of students across the country have stood up to Palantir and pledged not to work for the firm, knowing we cannot be complicit in building tools that terrorize immigrants.
We've pushed back on multiple attempts at recruiting by Palantir since joining Mijente's #NoTechForICE Campaign:
Palantir SCS Tech Talk, Oct 2 2019: "Software Company's Recruitment Visit to CMU Met by Protestors | 90.5 WESA"
Palantir MSIT Privacy Seminar, Oct 24, 2019: "CMU's Moral Obligation to Stand against Palantir"
Mijente National Day of Action, Nov 19, 2019: "CMU students protest university's involvement with Palantir, a company contracted with ICE" / Campus activists find a target at the intersection of immigration and technology: Palantir
